My Journey: From Beginner to UK National Contender
In May 2026, I competed against the country’s top talent and achieved a proud finish — Top 17–32 at the UK National Finals of the British Youth Championships. What makes this milestone significant is that I picked up fencing entirely from scratch after moving to the UK for my study abroad program. My rapid progression within the UK competitive circuit was driven by rigorous training and a deep athletic foundation. Within my first year, I earned a regional Bronze Medal, followed by a Silver Medal in the U18 category in January 2026, which qualified me for the national stage. This rapid ascent reflects my core strengths: a high capacity for learning, rapid adaptability, and the resilience to perform under intense pressure.

SKI
🎿 Dec 2019 (Age 11) | SAJ Junior Ski Test: Ski Association of Japan (SAJ) Junior Grade 1 Certification
➡ Passed Junior Grade 1
🎿 Dec 28, 2025 (Age 17) | SAJ Ski Test: Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu Ski School
Passed Adult Grade 1, certified by the Hokkaido Ski Federation and the Ski Association of Japan
My Journey: A Family Tradition on the Slopes
Skiing is something my family has always done together every winter in Niseko. I’ve been on skis since I was little. I passed Junior Grade 1 when I was 11, then kept skiing every season after that, and passed Adult Grade 1 at 17, in December 2025, at Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu. Junior and Adult Grade 1 are actually separate tests, so passing both meant a lot to me. I want to get my ski instructor’s license eventually, so I can teach skiing too, maybe to my own kids one day.

SAILING
【Date】Ages 6–11
【Competition】National Junior Sailing Tournament (Optimist Class)
【Result】Overall Award Winner
I dedicated my childhood to competitive sailing from the age of 6 to 11, training rigorously every weekend in the Optimist (OP) class. Navigating the unpredictable ocean at a young age required high adaptability and deep emotional resilience. Through years of hard work, I qualified for the National Junior Sailing Tournament and achieved a proud, overall award-winning finish against the country’s top young sailors. This early experience built my strong discipline and strategic thinking, laying the foundation for my ability to embrace new challenges—such as moving abroad and taking up fencing.

KARATE
【Date】 Ages 4–11
【Activity】Karate (Traditional Martial Arts & Self-Defense)
【Achievement】Black Belt (1st Degree)
My foundation in sportsmanship began at the age of 4 through Karate, which I practiced for seven years until I was 11. Attending training twice a week on weekdays, I eventually achieved the rank of Black Belt. While the curriculum focused on self-defense, its greatest impact was teaching me the profound etiquette and discipline of Budo (martial arts). The intense concentration and unwavering respect for manners I cultivated in the dojo became the bedrock of my fencing career. Even today, the mental focus and professional conduct I learned through Karate guide my performance and sportsmanship on the fencing piste.
